Preventing burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma thru Staff Resiliency Training
Staff Resiliency Training
Ruby Jo has been offering Staff Resiliency Training, which has been implemented across various agencies throughout the U.S. to support employees. This includes medical offices, disability services, victim/survivor agencies, and other human service agencies. The emphasis of the training has been on general resilience support as well as prevention. This type of training helps prevent burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. These reactions are normal in human services work and can be addressed with supportive interventions that can be taught in person or online. Using the lens of neurobiology is particularly useful as stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma have underlying physiological distress at their core. Learning to shift these issues with neurobiological interventions offers more effectiveness. Because resilience is learned and not genetic, skills for more ease and regulation can be integrated into daily life for full-hearted living.
This training ranges from 1 hour to full-day training.

I am a leader in an organization run by and for members of a marginalized community. We have needed assistance to be able to help us manage our own fears when our community is facing threats while continuing to lead our community to challenge hateful and damaging policies. Ruby Jo and her team have always been able to help us, both in person and virtually. They come open minded and truly meet people where they are and help us understand why we are feeling the way we feel, and what can help us heal so that we can do our work with focus and clarity.
I highly recommend this training for anyone working in any capacity with traumatized populations.

Ruby Jo Walker’s Southwest Trauma Training, hosted at Manna for our staff, was an incredibly valuable experience. The training was not only informative and highly relevant to our work, but it also provided us with practical tools to better support our community. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate as a team in developing our “Manna Agreements.” The training was well-presented, thoughtfully structured, and truly engaging. I would highly recommend it to any organization looking to deepen their understanding of trauma-informed care and strengthen their team dynamics.
